First Impressions Survey 2016

Follow Up Actions

College Publicity (60%)

The programme information published on the Oaklands College website and the printed HE Brochure was not accurate. Updates submitte to a previous Head of Department had not been passed on.

The Programme Manager has now passed on updates to correct these inaccuracies to Viren (HE Manager)

College First Impressions (40%)

As there are no written comments, I can only assume that the low rating here reflects the students (and staff) disatisfaction with the Class rooms allocated and the difficulties over registration

The class room situation has still not yet been resolved to the satisfaction of the Programme Manager or the students.

Complaints Procedure (75%)

The Programme Manager did not include the complaints procedure in Induction, but that has now been rectified. The College Complaints procedure and the National Complaints procedure have now been posted on Oaklearn, and the students made aware of them.

Induction Enjoyable/Enjoyable (75%)

At induction only four students were enrolled. Consequently, induction was repeated with each new enrollment. It was also difficult because the students were either students who were familiar with the College from a previous BTEC course, or students who had not been enrolled at the college previously

In future, it might be better to have two separate inductions, of find a way to involve one group of students helping another group of students become familiar with the college and the course.

College Registration (60%)

All but one of the students enrolled wanted to enrol as a full time HND students, but were enrolled on a full time HNC and informed that they would be transferred to HND at the start of the second year. This caused confusion and there were difficulties over loan applications
